Who represents me on the Board of Supervisors?

Dear District 1 Residents:

I consider it a privilege to serve on the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors representing residents of District 1. Re-elected to my second term in June 2014, and had the honor of serving as the 2015 Chair of the Board.

Growing up in a home where civic engagement was a part of everyday life, I learned at a young age that it is not enough to sit on the sidelines and let government happen to you. A commitment to lead and the privilege of representing a community is about ensuring everyone has a voice in shaping the public policies governing our lives.

I have been honored to represent one of the region’s most diverse constituencies these past five years. District 1 includes the Sacramento International Airport as well as McClellan Business Park, and many of the region’s most established neighborhoods such as Downtown, North Sacramento, Oak Park, and Curtis Park where I grew up. Geographically, the district encompasses 112 square miles and extends from the Sacramento-Sutter County line south to Florin Road east of Power Inn Road, and from the Sacramento River east to stretches of Watt Avenue.

A graduate of Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento, I completed my undergraduate studies at California State University and earned a master’s degree in city and regional planning from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. My wife Roxanna, also a Cal Poly graduate, and I have been married for 21 years and live in North Natomas.

I look forward to a productive new year in 2017 working with my colleagues on the Board of Supervisors, community partners, stakeholders, staff and constituents to improve County services and the quality of life for all Sacramento residents.

My staff and I are dedicated to providing you the help or information you need in an efficient and timely manner. Please contact my office with suggestions, issues or concerns: 916.874.5485 or We will be happy to assist you in whatever way possible.
